Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care & Outreach

St Mary’s Parish offers outreach to the greater Oneonta community in a number of ways. We offer Communion visits to the hospitalized and homebound, transportation for home and medical necessities and prayer services in neighborhood care facilities.

Nursing Home Visits: Pastoral Care Ministers, on a weekly basis visit Fox Nursing Home, Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Robynwood Home for Adults and Hampshire House Adult Home to offer Holy Communion and a connection to the parish. There is Liturgy of the Word with communion each Wednesday at Nader Towers.

The Plains at Parish Homestead and Otsego Manor are visited upon request and parish volunteers offer a monthly Liturgy of the Word with Communion.

· On the third Tuesday of the month a Liturgy of the Word with the distribution of Holy Communion is offered at Fox Nursing Home.

· Liturgy of the Word with Communion are celebrated with residents of Hampshire House and Robynwood on a regular basis.

Please notify the rectory (607-432-3920) if you or a family member are admitted to any of the above facilities.

Hospital Visits:  Due to more stringent enforcement of HIPAA privacy laws, hospitals will no longer notify the parish directly if you or a loved one has been hospitalized.  Please call the rectory at 607-432-3920 if a Communion visit or Anointing of The Sick is needed.

Bereavement/Consolation Group:  for those who are grieving, meets on the third Thursday of the month. Contact Mel (432-3920 x 202) for more information on this group or other spiritual support services.
